Marcadores inflamatorios y severidad en la infección por SARS-CoV-2.

Resumen

La enfermedad por COVID-19 que es causada por el nuevo coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 muestra una marcada heterogeneidad en su curso clínico, variando desde cuadros asintomáticos hasta formas potencialmente letales como síndrome de distrés respiratorio agudo (SDRA) o falla multiorgánica. Algunos factores se han asociado a peor pronóstico de COVID-19, como la edad avanzada, presencia de comorbilidades y algunos parámetros de laboratorio, cuyo reconocimiento resulta de gran importancia para tratar de predecir su evolución. Se realizó una revisión sistemática en bases de datos científicas como PubMed, SciELO, Elsevier, Google Scholar, Organización Panamericana de la Salud (OPS), Organización Mundial de la Salud (OMS), Redalyc, Springer, libros, y reportes de salud. El objetivo principal de esta revisión fue investigar sobre los marcadores inflamatorios y severidad de COVID-19. Se observó en la mayoría de las fuentes una disminución de los valores medios de la hemoglobina y del conteo global de los linfocitos, del conteo de plaquetas sobre todo en los casos graves; así como aumento de los analitos como lo son el dímero D, Procalcitonina, PCR, LDH, Interleucina 6 entre otros. En la presente investigación de tipo revisión bibliográfica se demostró que es importante determinar los diferentes tipos de marcadores de la inflamación para determinar la gravedad de la enfermedad en pacientes que presentan COVID-19, y en base a estos resultados considerar su ingreso a hospitalización o a su vez la necesidad del ingreso a la unidad de cuidados intensivos.
